Pale straw like colour with attractive green hues. Bright tropical aromatics, with subtle herbacious undertones. The palate is elegant with delicately detailed sweet tropical fruits and a lively acidity, refined minerality, poised palate, textured and a long flavoursome finish.

Neil Elis Groenekloof Syrah 2018

A medium bodied Shiraz with a vibrant colour. The nose has bright dark fruit with contributing spicy perfumed aromas. Savoury notes linger in the background while the palette is fresh with chalky, fine, elegant tannins.

Food pairings: Pork belly and braised chicken.

In the cellar: Harvest commenced on the 21st of February and carried through to the 1st of March. Handpicked, crushed and fermented on skins in open top fermenters allowing punch downs and gentle pump-overs to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Malolactic fermentation in French oak puncheons.

Aged for 16 months in 5% new and the balance in older French puncheons of 500ℓ capacity.

Neil Elis Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Intense dark colour. The nose shows restraint, with aromas of complex black berry and cedary notes. The palate is tight and fresh followed by fine, dense tannins. This is a wine which is built to last and for early drinking would benefit with decanting.

In the cellar: Fermentation is initiated in stainless steel tanks. The de-stemmed grapes underwent a series of pump overs until dry. Further maceration is allowed before drawing off and light pressing. Malolactic fermentation was completed in new French oak barrels. This wine spent 18 months in 25% new French oak barrels and the balance is 2nd , 3rd and 4th fill.

Bottled in December 2017.

In the cellar: The grapes were whole bunch pressed on a Champagne Pressing cycle and using only the cuvee. 100% barrel fermented, using 30% new 228 litre fine-grained oak barrels and the rest in 2nd and 3rd fill oak barrels. 20% went through malolactic fermentation. The wine spent 9 months in French oak barrels. (228 lit).
