Taittinger Prestige Rosè Champagner

The intense and brilliant body is bright pink in colour. The bubbles are fine, and the mousse persistent. The full nose, wonderfully expressive, is both fresh and young. It gives off aromas of red fruits (freshly crushed wild raspberry, cherry, blackcurrant). On the palate, this wine strikes a fine balance of a velvet texture and full body taste. The flavours are reminiscent of fresh, crisp red fruits. The palate can be summed up in four words: lively, fruity, fresh and elegant, as only a rosé blend can be.

Taittinger Prestige Rosé can be enjoyed both early on and at the end of an evening. Deliciously fragranced for an aperitif, it is also a subtle accompaniment to fruit desserts, including fruit tart, fruit salad and red fruit crumble.

Taittinger Prestige Rosé immediately stands out for its intense, shimmering hue whose secret lies in the fact that it is a blend, which is more complex and costly to produce. A quantity of still red wine (15%) produced from the best Pinot Noirs from Montagne de Reims and Les Riceys is in fact added to the final blend, to give this cuvée its unmistakable colour and vibrant intensity on the palate. The high proportion of Chardonnay (30%) that completes the blend brings the elegance and delicacy that underpinTaittinger’s signature style.

Taittinger Brut Millèsimè Champagne 2013

A vivacious, fresh nose offers aromas of hawthorn, grapefruit and pear. The palate is crisp and wonderfully precise. Marked by citrus fruit, it offers an excellent balance of structure and finesse. The complex finish is elegant and long.

Offering complexity and a delicate tautness, this wine is perfect for an aperitif amongst connoisseurs. Over the years, its generous structure will see it mature to accompany gourmet meals of wonderfully roasted white meat with grilled vegetables.

The Taittinger Brut Vintage comprises only wines from the first press with a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. The Grands Crus make up a significant proportion at 70% while the other selected villages are all classified as Premiers Crus. A 5-year long ageing period in the cellars unlocks its full potential.

The year 2013 stands out for a winter where temperatures fell below the ten-year average with periods of snow and freezing. Spring persisted with cool temperatures and was marked by heavy rainfall. Flowering began in July. An extremely sunny and particularly hot summer helped the vines to offset any delay. Harvest began on October 1st for the Chardonnays. Maturity at harvest was very satisfying. The Chardonnays combined notes of white flowers with citrus. They were powerful, structured and well-rounded with excellent length. The Pinots Noirs were complex, fusing floral aromas with white, yellow and red fruit.

Taittinger Folies de la Marquetterie Champagne

The body is deep yellow in colour with golden highlights. The bubbles are fine and delicate. The intense, highly fruity bouquet leads onto peach and apricot jam aromas with subtle hints of toasted brioche and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied, smooth and fruity with dominant peach flavours. The distinctive and expressive finish delivers lightly woody notes. Les Folies de la Marquetterie is a full-flavoured and harmonious champagne distinguished by its immense richness and complexity. This “terroir” wine, structured and powerful, pays homage to the 18th century and is the ideal accompaniment to robust dishes such as roasted meats and fish in sauce.

The House’s very first “Champagne de Domaine”, Les Folies de la Marquetterie is a blend of Chardonnays (45%) and Pinot Noirs (55%), made exclusively from grapes grown at the Folies vineyard that overlooks Château de la Marquetterie, the birthplace of the Taittinger family champagne. A “green” harvest is carried out on the selected plots of vines to ensure the fruit offers optimum sweetness and aromatic maturity. After harvesting, only the juice from the first pressing is reserved. Each plot is vinified in small volumes and certain batches in oak casks. The bottles are aged for five years to bring this wine to complete harmony.

Château de la Marquetterie, set in the heart of the Champagne wine-growing region, was, prior to the French Revolution, the one-time residence of writer Jacques Cazotte, author of French classic Le Diable Amoureux, and a site for village fairs where philosophers and intellectuals of the Enlightenment would gather. General Castelnau also used the stately home as his headquarters during the Battle of Champagne in 1915, while much earlier, in the 17th century, Brother Oudart, a Benedictine Monk, discovered some of the secrets of champagne fermentation.
