Miraval Rosè Cotes de Provence 2019 A.O.C

Pretty pale color, petal pink, elegant with shiny reflections. This 2018 presents a very beautiful and intense aromatic expression of fresh fruit and spring flowers. In the mouth, the acidity is refreshing; a great elegance and a nice balance dominate, with a saline finish. Miraval rosé is a wonderful blend of fruits aromas and freshness, made on an exceptional terroir in Provence.

Alc. 13% vol.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested exclusively in the morning and sorted twice. Destemming. ‘Pressurage direct’ for Cinsault, Grenache and Rolle.

The Syrah is vinified partially using the «saignee» method. Vinified in temperature - controlled stainless steel vats (95%) and in barrels (5%) with batonnage.

Grape Varieties: Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle, Syrah

Terroir: Clay and Limestone vineyard, partially in terraces located at an average of 350 meters. Cool climate for the area with big temperature swings between night and day.

Situation: Issued from the Château’s best parcels (Muriers, Longue,Romarin), and from selected parcels in the best terroirs of Provence.

The Vintage:

The winter was mild and dry at Miraval, as everywhere else in Provence.

The spring, also very dry, was marked by a frost episode in April, unfortunately affecting part of the property.

In these particularly hot conditions, flowering was very fast at the beginning of June.

At the beginning of the summer, the vineyard was exceptionally healthy, thanks to the combination of a very persistent Mistral and the beautiful spring conditions. The summer was also very hot and dry, with occasional localised thunderstorms.

The end of summer conditions concentrated the sugars, acids and aromas in the small berries filled with fruit.

The first juices are very fruity, with softness and a nice balance. The 2017’s are promising and have a strong aromatic potential.

Miraval Blanc Coteaux Varois 2019 A.O.C.

A wonderfully balanced wine between fruit and minerality, sign of a great terroir for whites. This 2018 Miraval presents a beautiful pale yellow colour, with bright undertones. Fresh and delicate, this wine develops a beautiful aromatic intensity with complex notes of white flowers, citrus, fennel and licorice. The mouth shows beautiful mature fruit balanced by the freshness of the terroir of Miraval. A perfect expression of Rolle in 2016 with notes of yellow plums, crunchy white flesh fruit and as always a saline finish.

Vinification: The grapes are hand picked in 35Kg crates and then sorted. Gentle pressing. Vinification in stainless steel tanks (90%) and in oak barels with batonnage (10%).

Grape Varieties: Grenache Blanc, Rolle

Terroir: The vineyard is planted on a gentle slope (between 5% and 9%) of clay and limestone soils. The sub-soils are known as Keuper marl.

These clays have low internal surface areas and are particularly adapted to great white varietals.

Situation: Chateau Miraval is one of the only estates in Provence to have its own private Valley on the Commune of Correns to the north of Brignoles.

It covers 2 appellations: Coteaux Varois en Provence (to the North-West) and Cotes de Provence (to the East of the estate).

The Vintage: At Château Miraval, the winter of 2016 was pleasant and the vines did not suffer from cold temperatures or intense rain.

The Provençal vineyard experienced a very localized spring frost episode, which affected only a few plots.

known as Keuper marl. This particular clay is known to have a low internal surface area and is particularly

adapted to great white varietals

Situation:

Chateau Miraval is one of the only estates in Provence to have its own private valley on the Commune of Correns to the north of Brignoles.

The vineyard covers two appellations: Coteaux Varois en Provence (at the north-west) and Cotes de Provence (at the East of the estate).

The Vintage:

The 2014 vintage in Provence looks very promising. The mild and humid climate allowed the wines to express their character and gave them a wide range of aromas and a very rich complexity.

Yet the climate was without respite, characterised by variable weather.

A mild and wet winter followed by a hot, dry spring and a cooler summer without excessive heat, allowed the vine to develop efficiently and to finish maturing with a beautiful Indian summer in September.

Thorough and precise work in the vineyard and in the cellar was more important than ever this year and was rewarded with wines that look very auspicious.
