Development & Aging:

The main feature of the year’s weather was a very varied winter in terms of temperature and rainfall, with very short spells when intense cold and lots of fog combined with hot, rainy days.

The end of the vegetative growth cycle was marked by the night-time temperatures dropping significantly, which meant that the grapes ripened slowly.

The resulting high diurnal variation produced good alcohol levels and much improved phenolic maturation.

The harvest was orderly and staggered across the different sub-areas.

It began in the first few days of September in the earlier areas, with the Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes being picked first and the Graciano and Mazuelo last.

Development & Aging:

A wine produced from two different harvests in the same vineyard. Following careful selection, the Verdejo grapes were picked in two rounds, with an earlier crop and a later crop vinified separately; the early harvest with fermentation at high temperatures in order to achieve an explosion of aromas and notes of ripe stone fruits.

Then a second later harvest fermented at lower temperatures looking for maturity and more concentration and complexity on the palate.

The resulting wine, Beronia Rueda 2017, is a blend of the two wines that is aromatic, fresh, flavoursome and complex on the palate.Vintage:

It enables us to make wines with high levels of tannins and acidity and whose colour is stable, making it a good complement to Tempranillo and creating wines that can age for a long time. Beronia Mazuelo Reserva 2014 was made using pre-fermentation cold maceration and maceration at a controlled temperature of 26- 28oC, with regular pumping over to extract both colour and the desired aromas and thus its distinct varietal personality. This wine spent 24 months in barrels made with American oak staves and French oak ends. Once bottled, it was left to rest for at least 12 months in the winery before being released.
